Lens

Turn messy documents into decisions you can trace.

A proposed document-intelligence tool that extracts structured fields, keeps source references and routes uncertain results to a person for review.

Planned work. This page records the intended problem, design direction and evidence needed for a release. No working product or measured result is claimed.
01 / Context

A problem worth exploring.

Business documents vary in layout and quality. Extracting a plausible value is not enough when a downstream system depends on its accuracy.

My contribution

Planned personal project. A defined direction with implementation still ahead.

  • Use synthetic or openly licensed documents.
  • Keep field-level source references.
  • Make uncertain extraction reviewable.
  • Evaluate difficult layouts, not just clean samples.
02 / Proposed flow

Follow the flow.

A proposed workflow to test. Architecture and technology choices will be revised as the implementation earns evidence.

03 / Engineering judgment

What the design needs to prove.

01

Trace each field

A reviewer should be able to move from an extracted value back to its source. Traceability is part of the planned interface, not an optional debugging tool.

02

Measure before optimizing

First establish extraction accuracy and review effort. An inference-performance comparison is useful only after the quality baseline is defined.

04 / Evidence & boundaries

The bar for a release.

  • Planned: field-level accuracy on a versioned document set.
  • Planned: a review workflow and hard-document examples.
  • Planned: quality, latency and cost comparisons.

Known limitations

  • Concept brief only. No extraction accuracy, automation savings or inference optimization is claimed.
05 / The next useful step

Keep asking better questions.

Create a challenging synthetic document set and label its reference fields.
